The Old Supreme Court Chambers were packed Tuesday morning as a House committee prepares to take testimony on two proposed gun bills.
It was standing room only with a line out the door for a House hearing on two gun bills – one to limit high capacity magazines and another to require universal background checks.
The House Judiciary Committee will begin taking testimony on the bills shortly and the discussion can be streamed live here.
House Bill 1224 by Rep. Rhonda Fields, D-Aurora, is proposing that large-capacity magazines, like the one used in the Aurora movie theater shooting be banned. The bill limits the magazines to 10 rounds of ammunition.
Those who currently own high-capacity magazines would be able to keep them, but selling or transferring them becomes a misdemeanor. And manufacturers may be required to stamp new magazines with creation dates and tracking information.
House Bill 1229 would require background checks for all sales and transfers of firearms including between individual parties.

Two bill that will accomplish nothing. What else can we expect from those who have no idea how to curb crime. Armed guards a schools work or else the rich would send their kids to public schools!

If the Republicans were wondering how to retake the Colorado House and Senate in 2014, now you know. The Judiciary Committee hearing yesterday on gun control was like one of those old movies in civics class about how the Nazis came to power in the 1930s. It was a joke, a travesty of justice, and one of the saddest days in Colorado history when the Democrat majority voted to limit Colorado citizen’s rights supposedly guaranteed in 2nd Amendment of the Constitution. In a throw back to 1775, even the committee chair was an arrogant Limey with a British accent, who refused to allow gun supporters to speak. The worst part: one of the bills passed out of committee yesterday will do ANYTHING to stop crime and mass killings. They will only hurt heretofore law-abiding citizens. The Democrats have now driven the final nails in their political coffin over gun control, but it will cost a huge amount of legal fees to get this treachery thrown out in the Supreme Court. Sad, sad day for this State.
Democrats are an arrogant bunch when they have power. These laws will just pile on top of the thousands of other gun laws that are completely ineffective in stopping gun crime.

The Gazette ran another story saying that the magazine capacity limit is 15 rounds. This story says 10. Which is it?
What else do you expect from a bunch of superstitious morons who think that an inanimate object made of steel and plastic is somehow imbued with magical powers to rise up on its own and kill or cause living,thinking people to kill others. These are the same nut cases who worship Mother Gaia and claim that humans, particularly Americans, are responsible for every evil thing that has ever occurred.
I was quite appalled watching what amounted to a dog and pony show. The seven that voted for these bills had their minds made up before the hearing even began. They flew a mother whose child was killed in Sandy Hook all the way here to testify, dismissing those from Colorado whom had gone to tell their stories about defending themselves with guns. They purposely made those that were against the bills wait till the end to give their testimony. I got the impression that some of the legislators thought they were equal to GOD sitting on their thrones. The one gentleman from Magpul told them all how he would have to move his business (85 Million in sales) to another state if the 10 round mag. rule was passed. All they could say was “They” didn’t want him to pull up stakes and take the revenue with him! The place was packed with Pro Gun supporters still they were ignored. Colorado has now evolved into California, we all know how that is working out foe them, huh?
What’s next? Bills to confiscate guns, just like we’re seeing out of democrats in Missouri. Of course, they’ll TELL you that no one is going to take your guns….all the while planning on doing it whenever they figure they can get away with it. Liars, cubed and squared.
