U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colorado Springs, told The Denver Post’s Allison Sherry on Monday that it’s far too soon to be talking about federal gun control laws, in the wake of the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday.
“Like many Americans, I remain in a state of shock over what happened last week in Newtown, Connecticut. With the investigation into the murders ongoing, it is too soon to be talking about new federal laws. In fact, it disrespects those who are still mourning,” Lamborn told Sherry.
“Until the facts are known, and we get a more complete picture of what happened in that school, I will refrain from commenting on what role Congress might play in preventing such a tragedy in the future.”
Colorado’s seven-member congressional delegation, including Lamborn, issued a joint statement on Friday after the shooting.
Dougie has not been told what to say yet.
Lamborn should be in a permanent state of shock… his actions and behaviors are nothing short of “Big Chief” in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKKO’s NEST
Doug’s silence is not surprising because his handlers have told him to say nothing while appearing to say something. It’s the same mind set that keeps Mayor Steve Bach from joining Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Even in the face of the polls, including the majority of NRA members, these guys are happy to do whatever AFP, the Koch Bros., et al tell them to do. When’s the next election?
What better time to begin conversations about improved gun controls and regulations? It is not as though gun-related violence ever takes a holiday. An average of 30+ people are killed daily by handguns in this country.
Lamborn, our constant embarrassment.
lamebrain, it is not too soon to be talking about new gun regulation… it is too LATE for these wonderful kids.
Dougie says he will ‘refrain from commenting on what role Congress might play’ in finding reasonable, bipartisan fixes to the frequency (four dead in Longmont today) and severity of this mass shooting epidemic until 1) the investigation is over (six months at least) and 2) so as not to disrespect those still mourning (forever).
Nobody in Congress is going to be safe on this one, Congressman. We’re watching you from the right, center and left. You’re part of the solution or part of the problem.
Doug Lambrain, once again proving tht a trained monkey can be elected to Congress by the idiot voters of Colorado Springs. What’s the problem Dougie? Afraid that the American people are tired of the carnage that the NRA and idiot legislators like you wreak on the country and are finally fed up and disgusted enough to demand action? You have more blood on your hands than Al-queda, you proud of yourself?
lamborn is a joke and why GOP got less votes nationwide, become
irrelevant
For probably the first and only time in his entire life, what he says is true. Regardless of which side of the gun control issue you are on, it has been very disrespectful to the victims to have started screaming like a bunch of chimpanzees about your particular cause. At least have the decency to let them be buried without trying to use their deaths in your arguments.
