In an interview Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn didn’t have too many good things to say about President Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech Tuesday night, but he was particularly vitriolic when it came to Obama’s support of renewable energy.
When asked about Obama’s goal of having 80 percent of America’s energy coming from renewable resources by the year 2035, Lamborn said on Wednesday, “That is ridiculous. That is stupid.”
“To comply with that would mean going back to horse and buggies,” said Lamborn.
He also said the president’s promotion of high-speed rail and “green energy jobs” would prove to be a “waste of money,” and added that subsidizing either one would drain money from private businesses.
